Chimney Sweep

Averaging a foot high for females, a foot and a half for males, and somewhere in between for gwēthru and nwēthru, these sooty grey-brown monkeys live most prevalently among the cities of the North Kingdoms, especially on the eastern side, but are spread along the north coast of the East Kingdom as well. During the long warmer part of the year, they make their dens in chimney tops, or any other sheltered area on the building roof, dropping stuff down the chimneys and off the roof edge, and leaping down to steal food or whatever small object the victim is holding. Chimney sweeps have learned that if they steal something, then stay just out of reach, wave the object and chatter, the human will offer them food to get the stolen item back. In the East Kingdom port of Corsben, the children turn up early for morning services, so that they can watch the chimney sweeps erupt in a screeching mob of panic-stricken chaos when the dawn bell begins to ring. All these generations the bells have rung, and the monkeys still don’t quite grasp the concept and den-up every night in the belfry. Nobody said they were smart.
